The Ton3s Bring Soulful Intimacy to Uptown Charlotte at The VAPA Center
On Sunday, September 21, 2025, Uptown Charlotte got a rare treat. The VAPA Center hosted The Ton3s — formerly known as The Hamiltones — in an evening of pure soul and R&B magic. Known for singing backup for Anthony Hamilton, the trio have long since stepped into their own spotlight, and on this night they proved exactly why.
Even before the first note, the night felt special. Parking in Uptown is notorious for being costly or chaotic, but The VAPA Center’s spacious, free parking lot set a welcoming tone. The venue itself is intimate — small enough to feel personal but large enough for the music to breathe — making it ideal for date nights, girls’ nights, or even a solo evening out.
From the moment The Ton3s hit the stage, the energy was undeniable. They delivered a carefully blended set of classic soul and R&B covers alongside original material that showcased their signature harmonies and musicianship. Crowd favorites included “Gotta Be Loving Me,” “Pieces,” and my own personal standout, “Best Friend.” Each song felt like a conversation with the audience — smooth, heartfelt, and authentic.
The production matched the mood perfectly. The sound was rich without overpowering, and the group’s charisma filled the room without any gimmicks. No pyrotechnics, no big screens — just voices, instruments, and connection. By the end of the night, it was clear: The Ton3s don’t just perform; they communicate through their music.
The VAPA Center’s decision to continue a monthly concert series with various artists feels like a major win for Charlotte’s live music scene. If this night was any indication, audiences can look forward to a season of intimate, high-quality performances right in the heart of the city.
For me, The Ton3s’ show was a 10/10 — soulful, intimate, and worth every moment. Whether you’re a longtime fan or discovering them for the first time, catch them live if you can.
